Rolled the polo to the edge of the garage, and stuck the front part outside (in case of fire). I filled and siphoned the tank to remove any of the Diesel fuel left in the tank, then filled it with about 5 gallons of gas. Cut the fuel supply and return lines to the correct length and secured them to the fuel pump and carburetor. With my sister on the camera and her boyfriend on the fire extinguisher, I connected the battery, and turned the key. The engine cranked but there was no start. Inside the fuel filter I could see that there must have still been diesel in the lines, as the color of the fuel was very dark, almost red.
Checked for spark, and there was none. Rolled the polo back to the other end of the garage, and called it a night.
Here's a video of the cranking: (10MB)
Well, the holidays are here and I'm taking a break. I will be on vacation until January 6, when I'll return to work more on the Polo Project!
Happy new year to all!
