Day
4 Continued - Install
11/25/03
Dropped the engine carefully into the bay to give it a test fit.
Unfortunately, there was some extra metal around the axle shafts at the bottom of the engine bay which got in the way of the engine and transmission dropping deep enough for the mounts to touch the chassis. Got the trusty dremel out at cut out the portions of the interfering metal. Here's what it looks like now:
Well, it's time to lower the engine into the bay and mount it up. Rolled the engine back over the hood and carefully lowered it down into the engine bay.
All the mounting positions lined up right as they should've (after some fidgeting around). Tightened all the bolts and the engine is installed!!
Here's how the car sits now, the engine and tranny bolted in and ready to be all hooked up.
Unfortunately, the axles that were in the car are not the right axles for the 1.05 Liter's transmission. The right axle is a little too long, and the left axle is way too short. I'm going to have to find new axles next, but in the mean time plan on getting the cooling system hooked up next, followed by the electrics and everything else.
