Day
15 on - Near Completion
Late February into March 2004
Well I've gotten a lot done but haven't had time to update every little detail for the polo project page. Douwe's package arrived from the Netherlands, below as it was sent:
Inside were all the parts I needed to get things completed.
I sanded and refinished the driveshafts before installing them, below is a pic before I started refinishing:
The next job was actually installing the two driveshafts. This process wasn't as fun as you might think... the anti roll bar and track arm mountings had to be disconnected for me to get the driveshafts up and onto the final drive flanges of the transmission. Some grunting and penetrating oil and a few hours later, the driveshafts were in. They are secured to the drive flange with a "triple square" bit type socket. Got them all torqued correctly, and put the car back on the ground. Here are the two driveshafts installed looking down from the hood:
Above: Right drive shaft, Below: Left driveshaft.
Within the next few days, I got around to yanking the old wiring out from inside
the car and installing the correct harness (again sent by Douwe from the
Netherlands).
