1976 VW Brasilia

The Brasilia was a car produced for the Brazilian and Mexican markets from 1972 to 1982.  This rare (for the US) car was featured in VW Trends magazine in December, 2001.  Randy Carlson (www.oldbug.com) found the car on eBay listed by another collector who bought it from the original owner's Estate. He was a professor at the University of Alabama.  The professor brought the car here in 1978 where he drove it to the University on a regular basis.  There is a picture below with the complete story.  The car made its way through a couple more collectors until finally reaching a collector/dealer in upstate New York where I purchased it in October, 2008.  This car is 1 of only 2 known to exist in the USA, and shares it's chassis with the Karmann Ghia.  I remember seeing it on Randy's page back in 2001 thinking it was a unique find.  The car is still pictured there from when it sold in 2001, check it out.  I never thought I would end up with it someday, but by coincidence, here it is.  Very unique!
