1992 VW Watercooled Type 2 Panel Van
This Van spent the last 8 years at John's Car Corner in Westminster, VT. I
purchased the Van from John in January, 2009 and gave it a complete refresh.
The van is powered by a 1.6L Watercooled VW 4-Cylinder Golf Engine.
There's a radiator up front which also provides great heat to the cabin,
something not too common in the air-cooled versions of these Type 2's.
I've replaced or refinished nearly everything on the exterior of the van, and
the interior is all-original. The wheels are a 5-star EMPI replica in
gloss black with 195/65 Contental Vanco tires and ATLAS porta-walls. John
referred to this van as "Chili II." This is part of the reason I
refinished the van in "Chili Red" and "Pure Silver", and left the roof white.
Inspiration came from color schemes used on current model MINI Coopers.
Pretty cool custom van, and I had fun restoring it! I've included some
pictures of when John had the van to show a little before/after! Click here
