1983 VW Jetta Wolfsburg Edition Coupe
Found this car in the
VWVortex Classifieds. It is in remarkably original condition and has zero
rust. Completely original factory paint, about 126K miles. The car
has been well cared for its entire life. The '83 Wolfsburg Coupe is a
pretty rare Special Edition that was the predecessor to the GLI. It has
the 1.7L 8V 4-Cylinder, and a 5-speed manual transmission. The Wolfsburg
Edition gave the car "a thicker German accent," according to ads from that year,
which meant special sport seats upholstered in a plaid fabric, fender flares, 13
inch "Tarantula" alloy wheels, a leather wrapped steering wheel, and a 3-guage
center console like most Cabriolets have. This Wolfsburg is finished in
"Mars Red" and also has the optional crank sunroof.
Since my purchase (3/2009) I've
replaced the front windshield seal with a factory original, converted to
a brand new H4 Euro Headlight/Grill setup, Buffed the factory paint,
reupholstered the front seat, given the car a full tune-up and removed
the aftermarket cruise control that was causing a vacuum leak in the
intake which slowed the car down. Below are some pictures as the
car sits now, even further down are pictures after
the initial buff with the stock lights. Scroll down for more pics, or go back
to the main page.
